What will you do if you discover that someone is forcing your best friend to burn to death?
My name is Nona and I am exactly in that sickening situation. This blog campaign is part of what I am doing about it.
A few weeks ago, the hand of my childhood friend, Burny Madden, ignited for no reason at all. It was another episode of the so-called Spontaneous Human Combustion, his mysterious burning disease. Parts of Burny's body recurrently burst into flames when he gets too upset, or too scared, or sometimes when he gets too excited.
It's been slowly killing him for the past 23 years. I've seen it happen so many times ever since we were kids, but I don't think I'll ever get used to it. Seeing your best friend burn, and scream, and twist and trash about in pain, and cry, and die slowly all at the same time is one of the most maddening experiences anyone can ever go through in this life.
This time, Burny's burning started when his mother, Carma Madden, accidentally shot his stepfather's dog dead. Burny owned it up to protect his mother from his abusive stepfather, Stanley "Stan" Lucierno, who was already rushing into the scene like a mad dog. Spontaneous Human Combustion happened while Stan was hurting him.
Burny later told me that when he fell on the floor, his burning hand touched the dog's body, and it lived again like nothing happened! No wound. Not even a scar.
I really find it hard to believe. Maybe the dog didn'y really die at all. Maybe it just passed out due to shock or something. How can Spontaneous Human Combustion heal when Burny is still hurting, bleeding, and dying?
But Stan seems so convinced that it has some kind of healing power. He has offered "healing fire" to rich sick people who are willing to pay a huge amount to be cured, and he is forcing Burny to burn and heal them.
Stan is threatening to hurt Burny and Carma if Spontaneous Human Combustion doesn't happen soon.
I can't just let all this happen. I built a Web site — www.palmagick.com/burnymadden — and published Burny's story so that through the Internet, people may know about this situation and help me save him.
